JUA INI - OUR PHILOSOPHY In Swahili “Jua” means “understand, clear, sunshine”, and “Ini” means “innermost seat

of feelings”.

I chose this name because I have learned that the animals I love are often my gurus. They teach me inner truth.

Imagine being a wild cat on the African Savannah, or along the riverbanks. Imagine the contrast, the intensity of the experience of surviving there, with senses honed for catching prey and escaping the jaws of other hungry predators.

I think sometimes there must be a longing for freedom from the dependency and urgency, a longing for play in a realm of safety, and for continued nurturing and security.

It is those animals who’s longing has been sent out into the universe, who’s response has come in the form of sharing their lives with us.

A symbiosis exists between the beings who live close to their wild roots and humanity. We have the means to create a safe environment where they can play and explore without harsh consequences.

They have the ability to awaken within us, awareness of our inner nature, by example and interchange.

Cats have emotions very much like ours, yet they are also uniquely their own.

Learning to understand another species deepens our knowledge of ourselves, and of the nature of being. Understanding and respecting what is different, and acting in integrity and compassion towards that uniquely special being, will bring gifts to the soul.
